This project involved the creation of a hardcover children’s educational book, including illustrations and interior design, aimed at helping kids and their modern parents explore spirituality. The client’s primary request was an eye-catching cover that immediately conveyed the book’s central theme while also using illustrations to present the story in a way that children could easily understand and remember important yet complex concepts.
The final design successfully achieved this goal, effectively engaging the target audience and maintaining an appropriate tone throughout the book.
For the cover, I designed an illustration of the main character sitting in a lotus pose, symbolizing meditation and mindfulness. The background featured a cosmic theme, emphasizing unity with the Universe, with stars scattered throughout. To enhance the overall mood, I chose a calming blue gradient paired with decorative sans-serif fonts, creating a harmonious and imaginative composition.
Regarding the illustrations, one of the key objectives was to depict the main character engaging in activities such as meditation and practicing gratitude. I opted for a pastel color palette to evoke a sense of peace and tranquility, as these colors are often associated with calmness and relaxation, particularly for young readers.
For the interior design, I selected a modern sans-serif font in 16pt for easy readability. Additionally, I incorporated decorative elements inspired by nature, such as rainbows, stars, and animals. These elements were thoughtfully arranged on each page, adding a sense of visual interest and engagement as children followed along with the story.
